Hi folks, if you could step away from your spanners for a moment I need some advice.has anyone had any joy with fitting a golf petrol engine in a bay.im thinking onto an up rated bus box.ive read somewhere that the early 1.8t 8valve engine is good but they are hard to find, any others that would suit a bay. Also how hard would the wiring be,any wiring gurus out there. Many thanks .Ian

I'm running a vr6 in mine. 1.8t doesn't seem as tall. It was pretty close trying to fit it in to the decklid. I used a vanagon decklid to help with that situation. Mind you though after the fact of seeing how close it was to the stock lid I went and raised the motor/trans 4".

I would go the whole hog and use the 20v turbo essentially a 8v bottom end with a different head awesome smooth engine with huge tuning potential and very smooth and quiet . Wiring is a well trodden path in the golf community so plenty info out there as it used to be the favoured conversion for mk1 and 2 golfs. Was it you that went to see jace gti in Portsmouth ? It was to a be his next conversion before he changed direction and went with the tdi stuff
