maf is always my first choice to start detecting any fault
dont always throw a fault because the maf is first source of air info for the ecu, the ecu adapts to info the maf sends |

I have virtually the same conversion, and I have about 17 centimeters clearance. _________________ 1973 BayWindow running 1.9 110 bhp TDI with flipped gearbox. |

thanks Wilfred. I've started my TDI + flipped Passat box conversion and I've landed on a best sump height versus CV angle of about 7"/175mm so it's good to know I'm in the right ballpark! |

| Sorry. Missed this. I haven't measured mine but looks around the clearance mentioned here. Going to put some 15'' Banded rims on the back in the next few weeks. |

Anyone look into modifying the sump. ? Make it a little less deep ?
I know dark side developments do one but is it suitable for AFN and are its benefits only that it's a steel item and not ally. Ie. Not much of a saving in height. |

no point Dan, the gearbox bellhousing and flywheel are just as low as the sump. Maybe not as far back from the wheels as the sump so probably less vulnerable to coming off a speedhump hard but they're just as low |

the sump is absolutely not the lowest point, so adjusting the sump is not needed. I have a baywindow, with an AFN engine, and ground clearance is no issue for me at all. Maybe if your ride is lowered, there could be problems. _________________ 1973 BayWindow running 1.9 110 bhp TDI with flipped gearbox. |

I suppose it just looks low.
I had another look there and indeed it is the adapter plate and bell housing that hang down most alright. |
