Yesterday, I pulled the plugs out, found a good clue as to my running issues.

Can you spot the odd one out??

The clean plug is bone dry and clean as a whistle. Lead me to think either the coil isn't firing or the injector is faulty. Very quickly found by pushing in the loose injector plug the engine tone would change. Release the pressure from the injector plug and the engine tone dropped. So the injector plug is the fault as it won't go sit home all the way. To think, all these years of running the WRX engine I've never been blown away with its performance, clearly as its been running on 3 cylinders help

Car has been temporarily fixed using a cable tie.

Car is now mental quick. I drive for a living and have driven some fast cars before. My daily driver is 540BHP and is super quick. Driving the notch on boost was definitely comparable yet much more scary. Only went up to the shops but I'm looking forward to my next drive. Roll on Saturday Happy

Wow,

That must be so satisfying to clearly identify a problem and be rewarded with a much better running car!

Got to love an easy fix though ! More importantly what's your daily with 540bhp ? And how do you get to drive that for a living ?

daily driver must be a Scania or something? Grin

I love when you find an easy fix like that. 25% extra power for the price of a cable tie!!

Bloody result that. Nice one.
Sometimes it's the most simplest of things that you never imagine would solve things.
Delighted for you.
Great to turn on the tap and suddenly have a power increase for no money.

As for the 540bhp.
My bet is a Merc. Actros.

I've gone and got ahead of myself. Was going to post a video of the change in engine tone. But I haven't got round to it. Tomorrow perhaps.

So I've had a guy interested in a set of carbs I've got stashed in the loft. Hoping that they get sold so I can buy the a replacement ECU. That'll give me an STI spec tune so 280bhp with the yellow 440cc injectors. Boom. Not like I really need it but hey elegy the hell not Laugh Out Loud

I definitely don't have a safe comfortable feeling driving this car. When driving round town it's fine but when it's on boost with WOT it gets scary.

Thanks for all the positive comments Grin

no just half the oil inside it. It's become rather whiney so its out and at the shop again for an inspection and a new JDM close ratio gearset.
