|
|
Hello,
I am about to pull an H6 engine from a 02 Outback and look for some advise concerning the immobilizer. The engine is running, I have one key with two knobs that do nothing. According to Richard Jones site a key from a non UK car. (In fact it is a UK car) In addition to that there is a thingy with a knob that opperates the Alarm and doorlock system and contains the transponder. Car has the Mitsubishi box under the steering collum and the clear illuminated ring around the keyhole.
(Sorry for the novel)
Is this a dealer/importeur fitted system? Could it be removed entirely?
Thanks,

Today I started to remove the wiring loom. I guess I ll have to live with the immobilizer. 'So I ll have to push the button everytime I start the engine.
I hope it will all work without the doorlock and security system.
So i learned that an immobilizer system was mandatory in the UK to get insurance and that it is forbidden to remove those. Interesting. _________________ 1989 Multivan, automatic, EJ 22. Düsseldorf, Germany |

So the wiring loom is almost out. There are quite some wires involved here.
Also, after taking out the dashboard and AC system I found a little shiny box containing the Sigma M30 Alarm system ecu. Some more readin and it turns out that there are two individual systems. The Mitsubishi Immobilizer with its ring and transponder and the Sigma M30 alarm box. I might be able to rip out completely. Everyting is getting clearer now. Great. This is becoming a real lively conversation here. _________________ 1989 Multivan, automatic, EJ 22. Düsseldorf, Germany |

I know the phase one engine wiring pretty well. But after 1996 I know nothing as I've not had an opportunity to play around with it.
There is no way that a 2002 Subaru would come with the means of disabling the immobiliser via pushing a button. Sounds to me like the Sigma box is an addition and could be removed. Does the wiring look any different to the rest of the Subaru wiring? _________________ Think......

| I have just finished doing a 2003 Outback, H4 not H6. Most of the wiring is the same on the immobilizer. Earlier Gen3s have a separate fob for the remote central locking and the later Gen3s have it built into the key. |

| You should be able to get an immobilizer bypass module. I got one for my 09 when I installed a remote starter. Is that engine CANbus? |

Thanks for the replies,
the Sigma M30 Alarmsystem doesn´t seem to be connected to the engine ECM. It only interrupts the fuel and/or ignition relay. So the whole system can be cut out. No fob anymore than.
I will keep the immobilizer with the entire ignition lock until I have the engine runing again on the motor stand. Then i´ll cut out the ignition lock and just glue the key transponder to the ring. _________________ 1989 Multivan, automatic, EJ 22. Düsseldorf, Germany |

That may not work, I have an early key that was not recognized when installed in the ring but a later key that was was taped in the ring. The early key would work when installed in the ignition lock. I could not work out why one key worked and the other didn't, they used the same chip in the key. |

Well, if it doesn´t work I´ll leave the whole ignition lock in.
As expected the Sigma M30 could be removed very easily once the loom was out.
I was a bit surprised that there are only 4 wires coming from the fuel pump.
Black and Red/Black for power and ground and two for level I recon. On my wiring plan there are six wires including a fuel pressure sensor? The less wires the better! _________________ 1989 Multivan, automatic, EJ 22. Düsseldorf, Germany |
