hey dudes..
have just sold my engine so the games can commence.. roll on conversion!!! was wondering if you could combine your knowledge and this may be useful to others as well about what exactly i would need from the actual subaru breakers themselves to complete 2.0 turbo impreza engine installation in my 1303s.
so far i have got the following:
CHASSIS NUMBER!!! (Edit by Elusive)
engine block
inlet manifold
exhaust manifold
front of wiring loom
ECU
ignition barrel and key
turbo system
chargecooler from a legacy 92/93 turbo
i could save vital dollars and time by buying everyting i need the first time round so is there anything i have missed off this list please gents?!?!
basiaclly get as much as you can...its easier to not use/ sell stuff than have to scrablle round getting stuff....
engine complete (youllwant more than the block) with all anciliaries: all sensors, esp MAF sensor and lambdas, airbox, turbo and bits ie dump valve etc, alternator, steering and aircon pump maybe?? mounting rubbers, engine wiring harness, ECU, fuel system parts (filter etc), Radiator, chargecooler (complete with pump and Rad) complete loom and ECu from the car complete with the lock and correct key with no cut wires.
also get all the engine to gearbox bolts as they are an odd pitch.
and all the details of the car: chassis number, engine number, reg etc etc it will make parts buying a lot easier.
im sure theres more.....I hope youll write these up in to one big list!!!
yeh of course Rich.. my aim is to complete a comprehensive list so its there for all to use on the forum in the future.. will mostly help the force sensitive dudes like myself..
i sold my engine in the end for £2400.. maybe i could have hit the echeolons like you did at £3000 but comin up to xmas and lookin to get the conversion done as soon as went for £2400 which to be honest was the highest sniff anyway.. maybe the die hards arnt die ing so hard these days!!
oh yes in reference to the list ol Ricola has an extensive and useful parts list on his website for the cabrio scooby conversion..
Futher to RB's post. You don't actually need the key, just the transponder (chip), immob unit and ariel to go with your ECU. Beakers like to keep the keys cos they can sell complete matching lock kits.

ok think this reads ok..?? RB mentioned radiator also although I was prob gonna use a cosworth or pug 205 gti radiator - i think he was referring to the Chargecooler radiator though??? not sure
Do you guys think its best to keep this list to all stuff one needs FROM THE SUBARU BREAKERS first off then I can add to it as I go along for hopefully the benefit of some other VWKD dudes.. so how does this look for a complete BREAKER requirement if someone is doing a beetle conversion as this may change for a van conversion but not sure??

Normally the chip is inside the key, also the inductive pic up part is around the ignition barrel so you ned that, not sure what you mean by aerial? All that is for post 1996 cars, earlier ones don't have built in alarms..
I normally ask for the engine complete as pulled from the car, together with everything to make it run (inc MAF, downpipe,O2 sensor, boost pack, intercooler etc etc)
You will need more than just the front part of the wiring loom, the engine harness is apart of the main loom so easier to get it all..

the radiator part of the charge cooler from the legacy. is it part of the engine radiator, or a separate rad mounted as you would see an air con rad? been looking for a lagacy charge cooler and rad but not many people seem to know what i'm talking about! and as i'm not sure either, it seems a good question toa ask
