hi y'all
just started up my ghia conversion ej20 - woohoo!
however, it was short lived . . .for the moment anyway
i have moved the wires to the ecu through the firewall on the car
now the car wont started -i am getting fuel for definate
when i connect the battery for fuel pump comes on for about 3 seconds - and there is petrol at the inlet pipe on the engine
but no firing - not getting a spark any longer at the plugs
the fuel pump no longer clicks with the ignition switch turned to start the car
i have bought a new relay to replace the old one but not arrived yet
questions
1. what could i have done that stops it working anymore
2. the ignition barrel appears well worn as sometimes the starter does not engage when the key is turned fully - i have seen pictures of a worn out barrel with worn ot contacts internally - is this the cause of it not firing?
3.on checking the black/red wire coming from the fuel pump relay it goes to earth for some reason but looking at the wiring diagram it should be the feed to the fuel pump?
i know it sounds a bit vague - -but any pointers and possibilities would be appreciated

ej20 n/a 1998 - it has factory immobilizer
i managed to get it started today - changed ecu - fortunately did not need recoding
i have connected both the ignition relay and the fuel pump relay on a 30 amp fuse - would it be better to separate them?
also trying to fit a diode - as the ignition does not switch off the engine
can anyone help?
thank you in advance |
