hi there all,
first post here (just discovered the forum), i am on the final stages of converting our syncro westy (jx) to an ej22 from a 1996 legacey. i have had the engine running and up to temp, bled the system,
i tried to start the van to confirm that the alternator was charging correctly, it started for around 5sec then died. cranked it over and it would not start. i connected the diagnostic plugs and had :
5 long pulses
3 short pulses
i cant find on the web what these pulses (53) relate too.
if you can offer any guidance or advice i would appreciate it.
many thanks neil |

Try disconnecting the battery, which will rest things and then run the diagnostic pre start up. Can't remember which ones but there is a test mode ( think it's the green plugs)
I can't say I've seen codes read that high myself. They're a bit if a pain to get to grips if you've not read them before.
Anyway by resetting the ecu you'll clear all codes and get a consistent flash. Then try it again.
Just googled it

many thanks for that, i swapped over to the spare key and tapped it to the transponder, and fired on the first turn to the nice idle.
dose any one have any ideas as to why a key will suddenly stop working.

Id imagine with the battery being disconnected ( possibly a number of times ) and all the faffing around going on during a conversion the key can just become unsynced to the ecu. There is a procedure to sync it again but I'm not familier with it personally. _________________ Think......
