A Long overdue update as I thought I better upload some pics from last year (early last year looking at the dates on the pics oops)
OK last update I was somewhere in the middle of this...
I managed to get the engine running but it was a little up and down on the revs.. this maybe due to the fact I have an EGR module missing which a lot of things seem to connect too but hopefully not as I've lost the will trying to find the missing module.
Next up was sorting the steering column on the EPS.. my aim is to try and keep the column as simple as possible retaining the orig stalks etc.. I had a holder made by my local machine shop to house the top bearing and have the correct OD for the indicator stalks to clamp to..
With the wheel on
Neat little ignition set up made by rb78
New Cam belt.. soooo easy with the way the engine mounts in these babies
New Exhaust using a back box from a 1990 Sierra.. nothing fancy for the dirty derv hopefully tucked away and keep the noise down
All out of sight with valance and bumper on
Also fitted some 'drip trays' that some guy on early bay was making/selling which seem to work a treat and stop droopy bumper.
Hole made to make way for pipe work over the torsion tube
And boxed in
Also been playing about with the spit in a final push to get it finished
Issue with tyres fouling on bulkhead
Solved with smaller tyres
There is more progress and will hopefully be much more with deadline to get bus on the Road for May for my Niece's Prom ! But I think that is enough for now _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

Think its time you updated...heres a start
Engine Cleaned up and assembled.
Gearbox has the new driveshaft spacer bolted onto it which works a treat.. big up SW Engineering for making these.
Steering reassembled after issue found with a bit of rubbing.. thought better to fix now rather than annoy me later. Also given a lick of paint
Some RB Handywork on scoop for Charge Cooler Rad

Added comments to above.... but need to get my camera out and take some snaps of...
Engine in
Brakes all bled and working
Accelerator connected
D Shafts on
Clutch connected and now actually working hopefully.
Pipework all connected (and there is a lot of it)
Charge Cooler Pump mounted with all pipework done upto the Rad.
So Basically once scoop and CC rad fitted I'm hoping I should be able to fire it up using some crude wiring and take it for a spin ! Then it'll be a mission to sort all the wiring properly. _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

Great news steamo on yer 2k last year looking forward to racking up some miles myself soon... not looking forward to the MOT with the amount of mods on my bus.. need to find a person who knows nothing about Type 2's.
We have Air poor mans air but should still be very useful for offroad/ speed bumps etc at low speeds.
Massive big up to Mycha for his advice and online support with this
Thanks to RB78 to help fit which took all of 30 mins
The Air Shox
Straight bolt on replacement for orig shox just need a 2mm washer to get them straight.
Dropped
Popped
Also RB's master piece that is the Charge Cooler Scoop all fitted up to the rad.
Spending a lot of time on wiring now which is not worthy of pics, picture a mass of old wires that need tidying new connectors, replacing etc.. I am able to start on the key now which good.. next stop lights then a blast up the road
Did I mention I drove it out the garage onto the driveway under it's own steam... first time it's done that in 6+ years ouch ! no reverse to get it back in though _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

After too much head scratching on how to get a contact from my horn button to the relay I decided to buy a a remote controlled relay thing off ebay and use it to trigger the horn.
This is the fob which I removed the inners from
This is the inners
Wires Soldered on
This is the box which is triggered wired into the horn relay
Remote inners connected to horn button

Kwikfit to get the Tracking done
Plenty of little jobs left to do and will use it for commuting to work for a while to gain some confidence in it _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)
