|

Hi, I've got a 2.0ln/a scooby 77 bay it use to have a 1.6. my problem is the engine is reving at 4000rpm to do 55mph! Rear tyre size was 185/55/15 so i've brought some 195/65/15 to replace them.
I've also got my hands on a t25 box code ABD gearbox, now my question is the box in my van doesnt appear to have a code, all I can find is part numbers 002 301 103 on the case and 091 103 173 it's a 3 rib and i dont know what gears/final drive it's got?
I'm looking to make a hybrid out of the two to get a longer 4th for cruising to drop the rpm if my research is correct, and depending on my box'es 4th gear, i should get an extra 20mph and 4000rpm!!
Any help?? _________________ autoinnovations-kempston.co.uk

Bears Motorsport specialise in VW gearbox's, their based in Solihull, they should be able to do the work.
I'm thinking about replacing the ring and pinion in my 'box ('73 bay) anybody know how much it's likely to cost?
You can buy the bits brand new for around £150 but I guess its the labour thats expensive? _________________ It WILL be ready for the summer, just like it was going to be ready for last summer. And the one before that... |

Sorry, just spoke to Bears on the phone, the ring and pinion is actually £395+VAT! Labour to rebuild the 'box is £300+VAT.
Anybody got a bay window 2L box for sale _________________ It WILL be ready for the summer, just like it was going to be ready for last summer. And the one before that... |

yeh spoke to bears too, they quoted £400+vat and possible some parts they won't know until they test it (far enough)
They also say the pinion is 1 and a half inches longer so it needs to be machined down! dam this is getting messy! dubs are never easy when messed with!
I'm edgeing towards getting them to sort it and FIND the cash later! At least i know its warranted and done right! _________________ autoinnovations-kempston.co.uk

Got the box back from bears Saturday!
That's quick service for ya! Well chuffed!
Fitted it back in, but I'm waiting for a new gear linkage. Should be fitting the engine back in by the weekend and hopefully have another update. _________________ autoinnovations-kempston.co.uk
