Oil Cooling

Any one have an oil cooler fitted? I figured that with the high engine bay temperatures and very little airflow over the sump that I could probably use one. Just wondering whether anyones noticed any overall reduction in water temperature as a result.

Thinking about mounting the cooler in the engine bay with a small fan rather that having to run pipes a long way to get the cooler into a decent airflow. Any thoughts on whether this is a good idea or not?

ive just picked up an oil cooler as i have the same issue of running warm.

i was gonna mount it to the engine support bar in a hope to get some airflow if its mounted low enough.

struggling to find an oil cooler takeoff for a pug engine at the minute...

to answer your question, a fan would probably work if you could get a decent airflow - otherwise you would be blowing hot air thro it?

Hey up Illzlee, looks like you're only up the road from me I'm near Burton.

Was thinking of pulling air from the vents with the fans so it hopefully should work. Can't see anywhere in my engine bay where I'd get sufficient airflow so I think I'd rather give this a try than start running oil lines forwards down the van.

I'd like to know if its likely to have positive effect on the water temp as well although I can't see it'd do any harm.

Is the pug particularly unusual on the oil filter front. I though the sandwich plates were fairly universal and you just needed the spacer bolt with the right thread. Quick search shows a 1.9TD pug 405 is M20 x 1.5mm (all pugs seem to be this fitment TBH).
