Hi, i'm looking at using the subaru legacy servo and mc in my split to replace the cingle circuit one. (as its laying around and free)!
I've asked on a few splitty sites but people ony seem to know about splitty parts or the parts that half a million other people have already used. Can you see any problem in using the legacy mc setup appart from linkage and reservior?
I'm unsure if i would need a residual pressure valve or not. (Keeping drums all round) |

Sorry for the late reply Ping, I haven't been round much lately.
You could use the legacy bits (with appropriate mods etc) but you shouldn't run a dual circuit m/c and an external proportioning valve. If you don't want to change your current brake bias setup I'd disable the built in prop valve in the legacy m/c. I'm not sure how you do it off the top of my head but I know it can be done, 5mins on Google will tell you _________________ The V6 Lowlight. Thanks, i realised i wouldn't need a external proportioning valve but i would need residual pressure valves to keep fluid from leaking back to the mc due to the return springs in the drum brakes.
I have decided not to go ahead with using the legacy brake bits now as i have checked the piston size and found it to be 25 mm dia which i think is far too big and would possibly make my braking worse due to lack of pressure in the hydraulics!
I'm pretty sure i will now follow like a sheep and use the baywindow mc and a vw jim remote servo!! |
