there are a couple of places in the block you can put an after market one, remove a bung with allan key and replace with the reducer most supply and put new sender in. simples _________________ vwdrc class rep

To expand on Dopplegngers' post....
ECU needs THE Subaru sensor. Jap (old British BPST thread)
.
But drill n tap whatever thread you want to match your gauge
I did a "thread" on "27TPI" "NPT" a while ago _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

Tuzza, you don't actually say what engine you have fitted and into what VW.
Have you used RJES parts including loom?
I have used RJES parts throughout my EJ25 conversion into a T3 crew cab. Rich sets the looms so they work with the VW temp gauge with a resister fitted to correct the temperature. I also have an after market digital gauge in an extra pod on the dash. This is fitted using an in line sender fitted just before the radiator. Gives a spot on reading. _________________ 89 Crew Cab (Subaru 2.5na)

it depends on the size of the sender.
Some will fit straight into the stock gauge sender port but others will be abit big in diameter.
I found one of mine was bit to big to fit, there is a lip inside the coolant manifold just at the end of the thread that stops them screwing in.
Very delicate use of a drill a tiny bit smaller than the threads cleared it up enough for the sender to fit. _________________ 1974 1303 Germanlook Suba-Beetle

Thanks for that but reason i wanted to know I was told that the stock sensor was also used by the ECU but if I use that it gives the gauge a way out high temp reading .
Thanks again |

Someone has been telling you porkies.
There are actually two sensors side by side on the manifold.
The big brown 2 pin one is the ECU sensor for turning fans on, cold start enrichment etc.
The smaller single wire one is for the temp gauge only.

Thanks that is going to make things simple I can use sensor matched to the gauge.
Thank you for your time and trouble :) :) |
