Mate said it was ok to reduce the dia of a VDO sender (part no 47 001 060, 120°C) from 8mm to 7mm. Apparently this works with some senders quite happpily. He's filed a few in his life.
The bulb is just that bit too big to go into a Subaru manifold. Thought I'd post it here as there might be others with different engines wishing to do this.
I got a mate to spin it up in a jewellers lathe.
It fecks up the VDO ones as the wall thickness is approx .5 mm. The end pinged off .

Coupla foot but it's for doing small stuff.
Anyway good news, I've drilled the manifold to 8.5mm - it was more of drill the ally oxide on the lower portions of the thread. Can hardly see where it's drilled TBH.
New sender should be here tomorrow <crosses fingers> if not it'll be here Fri.
