Subaru EJ20 N/A Engine conversion

Hi, have just joined today , have a 73' 1200 with project fitted with a 99' 2.0 non turbo impreza engine(kennedy adapter/flywheel) - not running yet as I'm having a bit of chew with the ecu wiring. Has anyone fitted one of these and could help?. Cheers Shrek

Hi, had a look through previous threads and could'nt see anything that suits my wiring problem so have added some pics to see if anyone can help

. I cut the loom down myself from the one that came with the engine & ecu. Looks like chip is missing from ignition for transponder key so poss rewire to remove immobiliser ecu?. plus a couple of pics my progress so far - bodywork is about 95% complete. the style of the car is a 67' cal look with a twist (Ie 67' decklid, doors, long bonnet and US spec upright front wings but with added twist of subaru engine and 18" wheels that will be painted black and fitted under wider wings at the back and to a 4" narrower front beam upfront.

Sorry cant help with the wiring, but I do like what you have done with the firewall.
I've been thinking about whether to do that in mine. Looking at your has made me realise yes I need to do it.

Ummm, missing transponder chip... not looking good - seriously. ( I do have a theory, and must try it on my van one day)

I'd imagine you should just be able to replace the transponder circuit on the ignition barrel with another one. There are only 4 wires going from it to the immo ECU, so I reckon the immo ECU will be the only part that is coded to the key.

Sorry, hadn't noticed you had the key. As Paul said, you should be able to just get a new coil part.

That plug your not sure of looks to be either aiflow meter/ throttle position sensor, looks to big to be for the boost control gizmo's Grin

I'm glad you bumped it - missed that too as was looking on my desire and hadn't zoomed in!

MAF sensor generally has 5 pins
Ignitor module, 6 pins (that's what it looks like to me)
Other does look like Lamda

thanks for info, will try and get to a breakers and have a look for an ignition lock assembly once the weather picks up!. Any ideas on the two plugs that I'm trying to identify?. Ps - how do you run your engines without neutral switches?.

Hi, just seen your replies to my post after posting another reply!!!!!!

I bought the engine etc of Ebay - came out of a 98' Impreza sport that had 75,000 and had been written off after the owner had someone drive into the side whilst he was waiting at a roundabout! only cost £200 and I made the exhaust myself!.
