in a few weeks time im using parts from my spare turbo engine ,heads ,inlet manifold ,water pump, oil cooler.turbo etc and putting them straight on the 2.2 i have in the caravelle.cant see compression ratio`s being a problem cos there aint much in it any forseeable problems anyone?
rich baker can you forsee any probs with your turbo being quite close to the clutch slave cylinder?ive not had probs on the race car but then im only going on a round trip of a mile _________________ vwdrc class rep

sounds like an interesting project....do the 2.0 heads fit straight onto the 2.2 then? I take it its the stroke that gains are made in not the barrel diameter? be very nterested to hear how you go with this :-)
as for the turbo location - yes it is pretty close and the thought had crossed my mind however my intention is to use a turbo blanket/wrap whatever its called basically a heat sheild and also to put an ali plate between the two to attempt to shield some heat. its still early days for me but im hoping htat will solve any heat soak issues. |

im having bubba look into it at prodrive just in case there is any compromises with pistons heads /vaves hitting ,but yes straight on .the block is the same.but saying that just sorting a bottem end capable of taking 450+for the car.and i got a 12.291@115 with stock legacy turbo at the pod on saturday with a little gas ,going for an 11 at the japshow this sunday _________________ vwdrc class rep

I was wondering if this was possible to do - as I seem destined to never find a 2l turbo engine within my price range, so have considered a 2.2 and turboing it at a leter date.
