|
|
This is for anyone who is doing a subaru conversion that has to shorten the sump.
If like me and you are going to drive your car enthusiasticly (hard) can i suggest that you fully baffle your sump to avoid a major engine failure as i've just wrecked my ej257 turbo motor due to oil starvation! |

poo sorry to hear that fella, what had been done to your sump?
I've just taken mine off to figure out shorterning (EJ25). The Baffles on mine just go across the top, nothing in the bottom of the bowl.
The standard sump holds just over 2ltrs to the bottom of the baffle plate, I'm hoping to cut below these plates (10cm from top) & go out sideways in three angles.
Any other advice/experience/pics? _________________ VW T3 camper awaiting Sumo power!! |

Got to surry rolling road on tuesday 330.5bhp, the new motor will have a baffled sump similar to that sold on latteral performances web site and also a cosworth baffle plate, its not the amount of oil in the sump its keeping it in the middle around the pick up on hard cornering.
Think i've found another motor at a good price, anyone want an 07 wrx 5 speed? |

Not bad for a knackered motor
They've been letting me out in the big beamer at work which is 540bhp. Feels slow compared to yours and certainly no fun.... But I did try.
Usualyy people jump at this opertunity whilst the engines out to squeeze a couple more ponies out of an engine _________________ Think......

| I could fit a bigger turbo for another 50bhp with more mapping but really anymore than i've got you need forged pistons etc etc and i cant warrant that at mo after having to buy another lump. |

You'll have to keep your old lump and rebuild it at a later stage with the new pistons and the rest
It's poo that it's happened but on the bright side of things it could be worse. You could be rebuilding a lawn mower lump...... Again _________________ Think......

Gutted for you. How much did you cut down your sump by? I couldn't find any pics of it in your build thread... _________________ http://www.ricola.co.uk |
