mk3 golf gti help

just purchased a golf gti engine with a full lpg conversion but want to run it on petrol instead if i get rid of the lpg and go fuel injection i,ll need a ecu ? will i also need the golf loom as when i purchased the whole conversion i was told the van was using the standard bay window loom , i,m not doing the work my self but want to get things ready for the mechanic cheers

depends on what year motor is from a mk1 and mk2 upto 88 will be kjet which is mechanical injection and ecu run from 88. upto 88 will have a small loom for the cold start injector and warm up regulator etc and another small loom for the transistorised ignition system, on a 88on car the ecu runs everything. You could make a loom up for the kjet motor but it might be easier to find a car to pull the loom from if your using a later

thanks not sure weather to keep the conversion full lpgare there any advantage or disadvantages on keeping it full lpg

Hi , not many vehicles run Full LPG and when they do the ones I've seen normally have two LPG tanks one for the liquid the other for vapour so the engine can start from cold otherwise the vapouriser would freeze , might be best if you could upload some pics or try find the manufacturers name

thanks will get some details tomoorrow when i purchased the conversion he said it was not great at starting it woold start just not tickover great fora couple of minutes

I've fitted a gti 16v ABF engine into in a bay, from a 95 golf, in short I wouldnt bother again as there are easier engines that will fit, I can help with any questions you have though.

I fitted the ABF engine at 50 degrees, as opposed to the 15 it sits at in the golf, main problem was the distributor hitting the fuel tank, I modified the fuel tank to fit, but I'm sure there is a way of moving the distributor?

Any hints?
