Looked for the number on the IP but couldn't see anything behind the throttle damper - the only numbers that I saw in the same format were;
1 465 530 746 on top of booster thingy
1 467 032 001 on the damper itself
I'm pretty sure neither of these are the number you're after, so I will endeavour to have another look possibly as soon as I can.

looking back at the pic it might be dificult to see the number due to the cold running mechanisam behind the damper _________________ Auto Union Munga Jeep ,T4 2.4td , T4 2.5tdi ,Mercedes S Class on LPG , 66 splity deluxe , GP mk1, 3 type 25s 1 with 1.9dt pug engine + 1 with N/A pug engine ,,there are 6 t25s with pug power in Darlington |

Phil,
I'm still going through the motions of finishing the conversion...I only get an hour here and there to work on it but I'm happy to say that (hopefully) I'll try to turn it over before this week end!
However before then I have a question, in your first reply you mentioned about using an early temp gauge, you wouldn't have a part no. or picture? Got one from GSF but its clearly not the one I need, no thread.
I also haven't forgotten about trying to find the part no. of the IP for you mate, but I've not been able to find anything thus far
Thanks in advance.

After many calls to Phil I finally managed to get the beast started, unfortunately I didn't get the feeling of elation that I was hoping for due to the fact the engine smokes like no mans business, thought it'd clear after a few minutes but alas no.
The other thing I noticed was that it doesn't seem to rev when I hit the go pedal. Give me strength... Not sure if it's a problem with IP or fuel starvation.
Oh and just to cap it off there is a pretty fast oil leak from the rocker cover - easy fix I know but just a pain !
Going to start it again today to see if anything will change with a longer run, that's if the neighbours don't shoot me for trying to smoke them out.
Any thoughts on the subject welcome.
Cheers

If it's diesel smokey you either have lack of air or a IP timing problem.
I started an engine once and it was smoking like crazy and didn't rev at all. It was a piece of paper that I've had put in the intake to protect from dust that was sucked all the way down to the turbo and blocked the turbine... |

Thanks, I'll see if there is an air flow blockage, not sure what to look for regarding an IP timing issue though.

| Oh BTW, how's the cold advance doing? No cold advance and it will smoke too. |

I've had a look at the airflow, I couldn't see anything so I ended up disconnecting the pipe direct to the inlet manifold and started it up. No change, still smoky and no increase in revs...
The cold advance seems to be connected up so good chance it coud be working.
I wiped my finger inside the turbo exhaust, it was very oily. I am starting to wonder if the engine is a dud. Doh! _________________ T25 Hi-Top Camper part way through conversion from 2.8I Capri Engine to 1.9 Citroen - longest conversion in history!!!

have you changed the cambelt? if the IP is a tooth out it will run like poo.
I did this on my 1.9td a month ago, refitted it and its now fine.
must take more care in what i do _________________ '79 Bay running citroen 1.9td and phat tyres! |

Hi Illzlee,
I did change the cambelt, so maybe that is and issue !
How did you work out the correct setting?

in the end, i had a mechanic mate come and have a look 'cos i swore i was lining it up all right.
The problem is the locking holes on the IP sprocket. they are bigger than the M8 bolts you use for locking the sprocket in place, and thus the sprocket can move one tooth out. This is what i did; move it one way it runs like crap, move it the other and all is fine. _________________ '79 Bay running citroen 1.9td and phat tyres! |

When your timing was out and it was running like cr*p, was it also smoking like a chimney ?
I kicked it in the guts last night and let it run for a few minutes, I'm not sure that it's running too badly my main concern is the smoke billowing out...would be ok if I was a magician cause I could dissapear in a cloud of smoke _________________ T25 Hi-Top Camper part way through conversion from 2.8I Capri Engine to 1.9 Citroen - longest conversion in history!!!
