some updates.....my mate Jace came up for the weekend to lend a hand...
tidied up the bulkhead strengthener and welded a finishing edge on it.
spent a lot of time building the supporting frame and modifying the dash to fit. Mocked it up with cardboard to see how it will look. still more to do but now i can plan the heater set up as I know how much space there is. keen eyed will notice I chopped my scat shifter in half as the dash interfered with it....it will be rebuilt in a different shape with a cable reverse
finished off running all the brake lines so the brake system is all finished - soujnds simple but there are some very fine tolerances under the arch - as you can see I have run myu flexis forwards.
also did a load of other jobs like clearancing tierods on chassis etc. and moved onto the swivel seat.
Welded a pug 807 swivel base into the bmw mini seat frame then welded the runners from an early espace (because they are very narrow and fit down in the seat box of the van) to the swivel then mounted into the van. not as easy as it looks!!! but now is a really firm adjustable swivel base

Cut it in half
Coming along nicely . . . that dash frame looks a bit of a game.. maybe one of those games with the metal hoop that sets off a buzzer when you touch the sides
Keep up the good work _________________ 1971 Devon Bay with 1800 Ford Turbo Diesel Engine (wip)

im back.....ive had a year off of doing my bus due to new career and deciding to finish my house project. Now thats done its 100% back on the van in what I hope is the final push.
Ive done a few bits .....
finished the bulkhead strengthener
As I run corsa column and switches i thought to make wiring easier i would convert my van wipers to a corsa motor (inbuilt intermiitent etc) , unfortunatly scrappy didnt have corsa stuff left but i noticed vauxhall zafira use same motor....except they have a different wiper arrangement.
So for no good reason ive converted my wipers to a new format....
seemed a shame to waste the linkage
suits the symetrical dash
i had to move the OS wiper mounting....but i think i get more area wiped now and hopefully no problem with the wiper lifting off at speed on the curved section, plus better spindles etc etc. Thats what im telling myself anyway |

Richie, Richy, Rich...
I've spotted at least 3 pint glasses of milk remnants & 1 unfilled ashtray in those shots. Yer not working hard enough
Ponder back to 5yrs ago when I asked you for your advice (& Ricolla)
But apart from that, good work fella _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

I love the wipers and have been looking for a similar mechanism. My quest is over, cheers _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.
