this is working out nicely, the water fill point is on the LHS as you look at the rear of the bug, oil filler in the same spot, will be similar to joels but with the stock subie tank, so for either one it will be a case of open the lid, take off cap, insert funnell & fill, making sure the right liquid is going in the right spot.

the convo about that was something along the lines of what the hell did you do that for? she says she helped so gets to make a mark on it, is said great, your polishing when im finished, its not finished, gotta find suitable bushings/engine mounts for it yet then make the brackets to hang off the forks

anyway at the end of the day, she helped so i dont mind too much for now, when shes happy its gooood, means i got some sleep that nite instead of struggling myself for 2-3x the hours it took, how can you not Love a girl that helps with your car & doesnt complain when you spend all your $$$ on it instead of her?? wow, havent updated for a looong time... anyway i have a possible problem

930 cv boot will rub on the shockie, from what i can tell here...

solutions anyone?

what have you used for rear shocks when using these cv's that wont end up touching?

the other query is, where do you run the solid brake line so it doesnt get pinched/crushed/split here...

3months of saving for a house, not much progress, i quit savings & now going on with this again Happy feeelllls gooooooodddd to be back into it Grin

spose i should put a pic up of the other VW Grin
2L, turbo, manual, watercooled, just has 2 more gears than the beetle & alot more creature comforts Laugh Out Loud

not a bad tow car eh?

the americans amongst us may recognise these...

thats in a 15x6.5" rim just for reference

and the 17x8"

to me, this ^^ is how under the front of every super should be, big rubber, the ability to turn a corner still, coilovers & big-ish brakes Happy

the CV boot seems to JUST clear the shock i have for mock up purposes....

it makes for easy progress when you borrow other people - a mate from aussieveedubbers forums

if you can find the guy haha

wanted, 18x10's to fill these spaces....

trust me, with the bodywork on, theres room... but only just

and, it now rolls & steers, hugely wrong guess with the tie rod length, screwed the ends in too far, its about an inch further in each side!

looks awesome though, despite the dust, and missing headlights

what ya think??? Grin

work not being cooperative with my schedule of beetle work so not much done, measureing for axle lenght is super high priority but its not going so well, early starts 3days in a row on night shift is hurting, gotta sleep sometime, earlier today was used for that instead, hopefully have it mounted by the weekend, perhaps even have the sides of my engine bay sorted out too, fingers crossed...

another thankyou to Mr Richard Jones for the lovely bellhousing kit i have Grin

long time no post on here...

got a few things for my bug recently, been busy moving house & doing other things in life too so the bug suffered but now its back in progress!

whiteline/selbys 22mm sway bar, crazy custom made camber bushings, caster+ bushings from topline, HD tie rods from lanner @ VDUB engineering, got bored & did a test fit of a friends wheels, 18x9.5's +18ET, fits like a glove! not too good for steering though hehe

keep in mine the rear is bottomed out, no bump stops no nothing, pan is 110mm from the ground, the fronts are roughly the same, the struts have approx 60mm further they can go if necessary! Eeeek

and now for the back...

not bad hey? knew a 10" wide would fit! just for the poser option, i doubt id run anything that wide normally

oh, the mustard L bug is a friends, it came to visit at stock height, now has urethane bushings all thru the front, Lanners tie rods, topline flip kit, & drilled rotors & later twin pin calipers + the other set of crazy eccentric camber bushings i had made, in short, with a tiny bit of toe-in, it handles AMAZINGLY! its approx 4" lower than the sagged/worn out stock suspension, control arms are pretty much level with the pan

also found a seat that meets our local laws for road rego & legal for racing too, its made locally so that makes sense i guess, anyway its a Velo Podium-II the standard width, great fit for me since its taller in the back than most, so harness holes are actually above my shoulder not in the shoulder blade! yaaay!

My axles were delivered too...

notice the engine & box are missing?

things are happening to it too Love

canton 90deg oil filter relocation/adapter, the standard one with fittings facing the ground wasnt high enough for me to be happy with it so went with one of those instead, thankyou very much summit racing Happy

umm what else....

coming soon, fuel system, coolant lines, oh and theres a big fat 24mm sway bar ready to go on if i need it Grin

thoughts comments etc more than welcome, im in the middle of a burst of enthusiasm, helped by driving a beetle again! ahh i miss it

Cheers
Dave/STIDUB!
