if anyone wants a looksee at my van, look for the following:

dark blue/white van, t reg devon with orange/brown elevating roof. my funky green 70's awning will be on the side and my other half will be flying some nonsense from one of those fishing pole things.

my van has: a smoothed engine lid, fat tyres all round - and the original orang paintwork poking through the blue - dodgy paintjob!

Ahh I'd gone just after lunch time on Sunday, I'd blown the headgasket on the engine so wanted to take it steady on the way back, or if everything else failed then I'd have plenty of time to get the breakdown recovery sorted out before Sunday evening.

I was parked in the family area next to an LT articulated trailer camper which was pretty damm big inside!

I've just ripped the engine out of the ZX Volcane which was in my workshop and it now means I'll have the engine out my bus by next weekend ready for a tidy up and repsray before putting the new replacement engine back in!
I'm going to get me a hatch from a Breadwagon and fit that into the rear and have a seriously concerted effort at sound proofing before putting the new engine back in.

My next plan is to work out how I can hang the XUD engine from the original VW engine mounts as I'd like to try and get rid of some of the NVH at the same time.

mark crank pulley ( tipex is good) then mark rear tyre ,select top gear and push bus ,best ratio 3.9 turns of crank pulley to 1 of wheels , if you have box out mark clutch plate and output drives 4 speed diesel =5 turns engine 1 of wheels ,put pug 1.9td in ,in 1992 engine screeming at 50mph ,change box to 1.9 water boxer =4 turns of engine to 1 of wheels ,engine screeming at 90mph with larger tyres ,tow caravan at 80mph (dont try this) next bus t25 with 5 speed 3.9 turns of engine to 1 of wheels ,put 15"wheels with big 4x4 tyres now thats better at motorway speeds pluss if pushed will go over the ton Grin [/b]

check your box code.
you should have the aap which has the best ratios.i ran 225/75/15 tyres for 5 years,40000 miles on my pug powere t25.no problems with gearing, cruised at 80.
topped at 100 just.
also i can tow a t25 on the a frame and have done about 3000 miles in total towing vans around the country.
recently i have fitted the pug/citreon 2.1 td 110bhp standard!
much more torque,i ran 205/75/16 tyres which meant at 70mph i was doing about 3000 revs, the 1.9 could not pull these, but have found the 1.9 is happy with 195/80/15 on the aap box.
soon as i get the next plate from phill,i will fit my 5th pug diesel, only one

OOOOh a new gauge....... I'm running out of space. I've got another air suspension gauge to go in yet too. I think when I get a bit more time I'm gonna have to re model me dash-cover it in carbon and cut some more holes.

Hello.
Ive recently blown the head gasket on my Citroen XUD9 engine (non Turbo) and am considering swapping it for a turbo version of the same unit. I am pretty sure that it will be a straight swap as far as mating it to adapter plate but I'm concerned about the clutch plate on a TDi being larger than the non turbo? (200mm / 215mm) Are the splines the same? Its mated to standard 1600 gearbox.

Also, the reason i blew the engine is because the radiator is slung almost parallel to the road just behind the front axle, and therefore a hell of a lot of plumbing to get damaged (I burst a hose ). I was considering siting the rad in the rear engine door aperture..... moving the door about 4" forward and bridging the gap with some stainless steel meshing. Would this offer sufficient cooling?

yes strait swap only exhauste to alter ,,, ,,

but the clutch wont be much good ,, as soon as the turbo kicks in it will it will just slip ,, if not new , if you fit a new clutch i would think it will be ok up to about 30k miles if your luky , before it starts sliping ,, maybe a kenedy hevy duty ,, or if you can get a 2,0 air cool or 1.9 waterboxer flywheel posted to me i`ll so that they can be machine`d

as for the rad , maybe a discovery tdi rad in a spare wheel cover at front you`d have no wories with this type of setup , , with my bay i took the engine lid off , and got a 205 td radiator and mouted the twin fans off a 405 td maybe 306 d fans might do ,, kamie front spoiler with holes cut in like bmw style grill and funnel down the old heater pipes ,, you could do this and put a slightly smaler rad in place of the one youhave now ,, do you have a heater fitted , if so yer could fit an oil cooler or small rad on return pipes ,, i fitted an oil cooler from a 1987 range rover auto box cooler

hope this helps
as for your water pipe damage , happens to the best of us ,, double up on juberlee clips ,, i used to bring in t25 petrol and convert to pug diesel over bank holliday weekend ,, not any more ,, seem to take ages wife n yougun slow`d me down a bit now ,,
