I've stumbled upon this and figured it was worth sharing. They seem to cater for many different mid mounted gearbox including a Type 1 
I haven't used them so I can't comment on any of it but the kit looks useable.

theres some nice looking stuff on there cover about all vw boxes by the looks of it
