fix the leak in my intercoooler
always noticed oily stains around he intercooler , just before bugjam i got a good used intercooler fitted.
I could not believe the difference in extra power, that a split you could not see would make.
over the 1000 miles or so, we averaged over 40 mpg @70-80mph this is better than 37mpg previous , we also had the temperature needle noticably lower.
my old intercooler must have been split when i fitted it .
so ive been running low power for over 6 years _________________ 1969 bay with vw 1.6td |

have you got any pictures of your intercooler setup?
My bus is a 1.6td golf engine and it gets 30-32mpg! 1600 gearbox mind but I'd still expect a bit more as i cruise at more 55-60mph not 70-80mph!
I been meaning to intercool for a while but havent had any real ideas on the best place to fit it. _________________ Second Gear All The Way Baby!

id go for a charge cooler mate in the back of a bus. to get to an area where you would get cool air to run over an intercooler, you would need really long pipework and reduce pressure. go for a sneaky little charge cooler in your engine bay. then run some pipes to a rad on the left side under your bus.
that the way ive seen on a few conversions, hence the reason why mine is going to be charge cooled on my aaz _________________ most bad experiences ive had included cars that werent german. never again |

yeah its just a case of cost I guess as a 2litre bay box goes for mega bucks at the minute. My next change will focus on some slightly bigger tyres at the back (possible 215/70 R16s!) to gear it up a bit. I'd use a beetle gearbox but then I'd need an adaptor plate and I dont think its got the inheirent strength of the bay box. _________________ Second Gear All The Way Baby!

the 2.0 box is much better geared and a lot stronger than the 1600 the 8mpg will soon buy the gearbox!!!! plus the lower noise and less engine wear is a bonus. the bug box is better geared than a bay but i doubt it would be strong enough and the inner cvs will need swapping for bug one's and a new front mount will need fabbing up _________________ 1964 rat 13 window deluxe 1Z tdi,
