do you mean that when its running the relay intermitantly clicks (i.e. not just once when you start it)? if so sounds more like a relay problem than a pump thing...

can you give any more details (step by step styliee)?

when running the relay clicks intermittently, think its the feed to the pump being interferred with..even if i by pass relay it still gets problems on tick over/or driven..seems to improve when the engines hot..have changed relay, fuel tank and pump..had electrics checked theyre ok too..was ok just started out the blue??

Defo sounds electrical, have you checked the ground connection to the relay, vibration maybe causing it to come loose and click off and on.

the earth or the relay goes back to the ecu iirc.... the earth on the pump might be worth a look though. whats it like if you just leave it idling after starting without driving? same thing happening?

Correct, the ECU always grounds the "whatever" on the other end.

So check the 12V supplied to the relay and pump along with the ECU ground connection & of course the pump ground.

yeah but where the electrics checked while the car was actually moving? if its a fault caused by vibration youd be none the wizer.

what years the engine? if its pre 97 then subaru diagnostics via the ecu will just check the fault codes in exactly the same manner that you could do yourself with the check-engine light.... and i'd be amazed if they pick up on any electrical fault not caused by a faulty sensor.

might be worth checking the pump itself by hooking up a wire directly from the battery + to the pump +, and battery - to pump -, then see if it runs without interruption.... if it does then you've deffinately got a loose wire/dodgy relay somewhere.
