Hi everyone Hello .
I managed to make an adapter plate,to fit a vauxhall redtop engine, via the diy make your own adapter plate.
Both engine and gearbox fit fine togther, now im stuck on the input shaft.
I have'nt cut the shaft yet as they was much discussion on using a input shaft from a different gearbox.
Any ideas on what i should do next.
Many thanks for the help

its easy then , remove the input shaft from the gearbox and add the same amount to the inner spline, i.e 10mm/12mm/15mm then add it , you'll have to make a fresh grove for the surclip , and if the 11mm thread is long enough use one from the rear outer edge of the nose cone ,, job done ,,

Thanks ever so much,thats great.
I ll try and locate a blue print for the box components and figure out what you mean from ( ull have to make a fresh grove for the surclip , and if the 11mm therd is long enough use one from the rear outer edge of the nose cone .
So basically as long as the input shaft is extended to the thickness of the adaptor plate i will be going in the wright direction.
Thanks ever so much for your help and taking your time out,it really appreciated. I thought i would end up screwed and end up sticking my bug engine in

i was rushing yesterday sorry , but basicly yes if ur adaptor plate is 10mm think then add 10mm in ur input shaft spline , ps , make sure u have a crank spigit bearing to tap in the crank as most vauxhall lumps dont have them , city seals and bearings seal them for around a 5.00 ,ps check the thust bearing too sounds daft but that extra 10mm of movement may be fully extended so the thust bearing can lock due to the std lengh of the thust bearing sleave , any probs just ask ,,
