anyone got any tips for removing the gear box with rjes bell from an ej22?
I have undone everything I can and have the box supported so as the weight isn't on the threaded studs / interferance fit studs. But I can not seem to get the two apart??
cheers,

Stoopid Q time. Have you still got the box in the van?
If so there's two bolts right at the top of the bellhousing that need to come out _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

Yep the box and engine are still in the van. I have taken out the two bolts at the top, one long one that goes through the starter motor and one shorter on the other side of the engine. I have undone the two nuts on the studs at the bottom. Undone the bolts holding the gearbox mount to the chassis. Have I missed something?
Thanks, jack |

NA has a push to release and a turbo has pull to release which locks the release bearing in the pressure plate _________________ vwdrc class rep

Ta, does that make it harder to mate/pull apart or is it the same? _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

ok I am only now fitting by gear box back in after it going to cogbox being rebuild, me half decapitaing my arm and so on. The engine is still mounted in the van, I have raised the box up, I have to two studs at the bottom lined up and engaged into the bell, drive shafts connected, but I am about 12mm from the box being home to the engine, and I can not get it there. Does anyone have any top tips? I have tried turing the engine over whilest I wiggle the gear box forwards and all sorts but I am propper stuck. I have removed the starter motor.
Cheers,
Jack |
