I've been toying with a change for ages - we want to go to Europe in the van this summer so i'm biting the bullet - its either change the 1.7 CB engine in the back for a recon, or stick a conversion in.

I've been offered a mk3 golf 2.0 ltr engine - is there a complete kit I can get to do a simple and quick conversion? I can sort out the cooling etc, i'm more concerned about engine mounting, gear box adaptors and any lubrication changes required. I'm mechanical enough to change an engine and gearbox for a straight swap but don't want to get half way through and find it too challenging.

The box in the van is the 1.7 CB unit which came with the engine

Advice appreciated.

Cheers

cb engineering used to do a kit - i think they are still going but no longer do it.

kennedy in the US do an adaptor.

or you can go with T25 deisel bellhousing - but this does tip the engine right over and you would need to sort the sump and pump pick up accordingly.

I've used a kennedy adaptor and its really nice

Engine mounts etc are fairly easy, its quite a simple conversion

I can do the wiring for you for £100 too

Cheers
