basically what the title says...
My 1.9DG is on its last legs so its time for a new engine. I could rebuild but as i have the tools and the time i have decided to go for an engine swap...
2 engines have stuck in my mind, the rover V8 or the ford 2.8 V6 so i am offering each up to see whats going to be better.
I know i will need an adaptor plate to fit and i will need to custom make some mounts but what else is involved?
Does the engine sit proud of the hatch?
Will the gearbox be OK with the power increase?
And basically is it a pain in the arse or easy enough? |

the 2.9 engine should be easier as it uses an ecu, far easier to wire in than the 2.8i as the fuel metering gubbins can be a pain apparently. look at www.t2customs.co.uk , theres a 2.8 bay on there if you want an idea of fit sizes etc.
i am looking at putting a pinto or 2.9 in my bus over winter too. |

| ive got a pinto plate lined up now but £600 for the whole van and engine seems good value, youd get your outlay back after breaking the van up! |
