ive been pondering with the idea of an aux electric water pump to assist with the flow as my kooling system has twice the capicty as the original engines pump was designed for, and i think it strugles to cope . has anyone done or heard any thing like this????? _________________ 79 twinslider bay 2.8 cologne v6

Yep, used very often on kitcars etc. Think there just over £100 for the pump. They do work very well _________________ DARREN

i think cleverchap is running one.
The problem is though you need a pump rated for continuous running...and they arent cheap. Davies Craig are a well known brand - i think their kit is about £200!!!! still im sure theres an alternative.
I read in PPC mag that they were hoping to run a central heating pump using an inverter in one of their cars!!! not sure how they got on... |

Have a looksee at Brads "weekend" thread too:
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=70364
Search for Davies Craig pumps on there too, a few are running them _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.

I have a Davis Craig one in my bus, great piece of kit and can run totally independantly of the stocker on the engine.
Not cheap in the UK so I got mine shipped from Oz (where they are made) by a mate who lives out there.
Easy to fit and operate but be sure to get the termostat bulb that triggers their operation or else you can only run them direct off ignition.
My comes on at just below standard engine temp so it allows the water to get up to operating temp quickly to reduce over cooling and engine wear.
If you need any other help give me a shout |

good stuff, how much of the time does your buses electric fans run to keep the temp down with the davies craig pump fitted. is there a noticable before and after difference.
the thing is you see my fans seem to be running about 50 percent of the time and im trying to reduce this. _________________ 79 twinslider bay 2.8 cologne v6

yes indeed mr 13 window, however after looking through the radiator archive for busses there is nothing there ive not already tried, apart from all the look at my radiator pot rivited to the front panal or engime lid ideas. (yuk)
my idea is to have a working cooling system that does not mean altering the bodywork or apperance of the van.
dont get me wrong my bus will do 80/85 mph for a couple of hours with out going over 90 degrees but the kenlows are working quite a bit and its this that im trying to reduce
.any good ideas please. _________________ 79 twinslider bay 2.8 cologne v6

Can you post some photos of your set-up?
Mine bus didn't have a prob cruising at 80mph, 3 full grown adults onboard on sat/sun in Kent/Sussex. The engine temp stabilised within the 'stat range ie 78-82°. _________________ The advice you receive on here is worth the paper it's written on.
