I've got one of the 2.1tds sitting in my workshop, I looked at putting it into my bay but thought it rather too much, so am for the moment am just going to put a 1.9td in instead.

I've been running a famous Phil conversion for the last 3 years with just a standard 1.9 diesel in it.

i say try and find a type25 to put 2.1 in unless you can get a higher ratio box for the bay ,,

How much HP will you get from a 1.9 n/a engine
A 1.9 tdi
And a 2.1 tdi

I have a 1.9 non turbo at the mo and it runs as sweet as you like if a little slow and would like to know if it is realy worth while changing would a 1.9 tdi make a massive amount of difference

I have a T4 2.5 tdi 102 bhp Will a 1.9 tdi be any where near the performance of that?

Andy

1.9 NA 70Bhp
1.7td 89Bhp
1,9td 92 Bhp
2.1td 112 Hp

2.5td 125Hp (dunno if the gearbox housing is the same though!)

Oh and the best thing about the 1.9td is its actually quieter than the NA cos the compressions lower and the turbo smooths the exhaust pulses.

Best thing I ever did was to go from the NA to to the turbo.

Hi Pepper
What is the acceleration like with the 1.9 td in the van?

I also run a T4 2.5 TDI 102 BHP that goes like s, o, a, shovel,
Gives most cars a humbling look at its rear end Laugh Out Loud

Any thing close to that Happy

Don't get me wrong I don't drive it like that all the time

But aint it nice when you know the plonker at the lights next to you in a tigra or punto is in for a big surprise Grin

My friend who has a Porsche 911 is scared by the acceleration of my bus!

He owns a VW repair shop and has had some very quick buses through his workshop but he says mine is up with them, but runs at 40Mpg instead of less than 10Mpg.

It really does need a 2lt gearbox fitting as its on the limiter at 80.

But boy oh boy is it good fun. Its as quick as my 135Hp Ford Transit upto 50.

You have convinced me
I have just won the bidding on ebay a 1.9 turbo intercooler lump

Just waiting for the seller to tell me where he is so I can go pick it up

If the motor is ok , it is a steal at 75 quid
