I have a 1.9 pug diesel in my T25 and the engine is cranked over at a mad angle
Should it have a sump that will take out the mad angle and /or an extended oil pick up tube
I have at the moment just put some extra oil in just to be on the safe side

Depends what you mean by mad angle? Can you take some photos so we can judge how bad it is?

on a standard Peugeot car the engine is canted over about 30 degrees anyway.

In my conversion I use a Phils conversion kit, the sump base sits virtually horizontal just like in the original peugeot.

Here are a couple of picks

As I have not had a pug conversion before I am not too sure if this is normal or not
The engine needs to be replaced due to pressurizing the water system and I have got another from a 309
Unfortunately not a turbo unit but it will do for a while

My problem is I have put in the required amount of oil, but the oil is only just on the bottom 2 mm of the dipstick

interesting points you raise here.

have been told my adaptor is one of phil's too but my engine sits at the same angle as yours (you can just about see it below)
interesting about the oil fill level - have never considered that! might be why ol' smokey doff's some oil clouds at idle! (too much oil, whoops! )

as you say hte engine isn't cantered over to the same extent in my 306 td

Illzee's engine doesn't look as canted over as andys, that is dropped over far more than the standard engine, me I'd be brave and drop the sump (one new gasket first) and see how bad that actually is compared to the oil pick up strainer.

Illzees looks exactly the same as mine which is only a few degrees over where the engine sits normally in its usual application!

Oh and the non turbos are dreadful compared to the turbo, far far noisier and rougher, the turbo tames the exhaust pulses and dampens it down with its slightly lower comression ratio.

I just need to get a good working engine in and running for the MOT next month then I will start to look for a turbo pug engine
Last engine had a porous head and it was cheaper to find another engine

Still 90 quid for a 1.9 engine aint too bad I thought (as long as it goes ok)

If I do go for the turbo version I think I will try to get hold of one of famous phills adaptor kits and do the job properly
I think that the conversion that has been fitted to the vehicle is a homemade jobbie
(does the job but looks crap)

No offence to the previous owner who I think is a forum member on here

I am in Aldershot Hants

The van is in for it's mot frid 18th so I hope it passes Eeeek

I can then give it a good run with the replacement 1.9 N.A. engine I have put in it

If I really cant stand the power (or lack off) I will be looking for something a lot better

Cheers Pepper

I picked up a 1.9 tdi unit from a 406 1996 or 7
It looks very clean and the seller swears that it starts fine and does not smoke
I have no reason to disbelieve him as he said if I was at all unhappy He will refund my 75 quid

But there is a small problem

There are two electrical plug things on the bosch fuel pump

My 1.9 only has one

So which one do I wire up to get the pump switched on?

This is a pic of the pump one switch has a brown wire going to it (at the bottom)
and the other is above it with two wires going to it green and black

Any one got any ideas ?

The other problem is one of my own making
The original car had power steering air con Etc
But I have taken off the pas pump and the aircon so now I am left with a non-standard alternator belt length
So I decided to take the crank pulley of and replace it with the one from the 1.9 n/a I was then going to fabricate a new bracket to fit the alternator on to so I could use the belt from the 1.9 n/a engine

But silly old me tried to undo the crank pulley bolt using the timing belt as a chock and I have spun the timing out of sync
Oh well live and learn I have now got to set up the timing.

this may be utter balls, but...

i think the second set of wires is for the immobiliser. search for posts on here from famous phil as i'm sure he's done a lot of descriptions about taking them off. for info this same wiring is on my 306 dturbo.
