bit more progress of late. chopped nearly all my central chassis out. as this will be the bit that holds my radiators in place and i want it to be strong and rust free.

im welding with a new welder now using boc argoshield. i cant beleive i was so tight using co2 as i didnt want to hire a bottle. a friend has lent me his welder with a huge roll of 1mm wire and a 4 foot long bottle of gas.
looking forward to tickling off the sills etc to get more new metal in

bit more progress om the van. i kipped at the bus stopover last weekend and am just inspired to get the van motoring. been trding in porsche rims on ebay to get some cash together so will be buying an adapter plate from the us soon then i'm going to get the 091 built into a proper cruiser.

sliding door track was a bitch. but it is in now after a lot of greif.

bit of a miscalculation on the b pillar. guessed a bit when i fitted it and it was a bit too low. had to buy a new one and reweld it on a bit higher. the today i tried to match the outer sill to it and the sill is shite. i have the day off tommorrow and will be spending my birthday welding.

the plan is to por 15 the complete underneath then paint it with a final coat of por15 sterling silver chassis paint so non of that crap black goo that it was covered with by "proffesionals" who did the last resto on it. then all the moving bits will be plack por15 chassis paint. i'd love it to be like those anal cars you see at shows but i like to drive my cars so it will simply be good enough to see that it isnt full of filler etc.

i can confirm that the welding shown here looks even better in the flesh. it took andy, myself and 5 other scumballers i'd borrowed from the pub to flip it back upright!

one question andy, how are you going to get it out of the workshop? both ends looked bricked up? Laugh Out Loud

cheers for the help mate, it is so nice to have the van the right way up again. and for the first time since i have owned it, it is actually sat on its jacking points.

as for getting the van out of there. you saw the state of the place, it will probably fall down around the van. i had a teacher at school build a kit car in his dinning room. then had to completely strip it again to get it out of the house.

my workshop has a temporary wooden wall that replaces the wall i knocked down to get the van in. when the van is done the workshop will be floored and turned into a pair of flats, as it is probably the most structurally unsound building ive ever been in.
