|
|
At sertain revs I get the most horrible Rumbling gearlinkage noise/resanance. Has any one else come across this and any one got any ideas of what it could be?
I've changed the front bushing but that hasnt really helped! I'm thinking I'm gonna have to replace the whole lot with new bits! _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

hi , i had the same problem . you can fit a bush in the centre to support the rod , but this involves removing the engine to remove the rod. i drilled a small hole jost behind the front bush and fitted a grease nipple and pumped the tube full of grease . it took about one and a half tubes of grease but cured my noise . as i have a floor radiator i found the gear rod was getting hot and causing it to tighten. the wine from the box is still there though. good luck nobby. |

Nice one Nobby-I have a bronze bush fitted at the end of my final drive rod that sits in the engine-yer that helped loads with getting rid of second gear clutch judder-but this is a differant noise-pretty sure in the actual gear stick linkage-maybe I need a support for the linkage? I'll give the greesing ago cant hurt and I've got a few bleed nippels about
Cheers fella and good work on ya van _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

| Ahh thanks I'll also try packing the damm thing with grease too. mines got exactly the same rumble and it spoils the driving, I'm also changing the rear bush as I've done the front and that's made no difference to the excessive movement of my gearlever. |

I've just changed my the front and rear bush on the gearlinkage were it goes into a chassy tube-it has cured my rumble but I now cant get revers gear!!! I guess I've taken too much play out now. Any one else come across this? _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

Yo I found reverse! Aparantly with beatles you are suposte to put it in reverse before you remove the gear lever and then it lines all the others up. So after good advice, from Justin at retrodubs, I simply loosend my gear lever plate slotted it in reverse and bolted it back down again-vowla I have reverse again!
Worth remembering me thinks. _________________ www.faltownskateboards.com |

yes i had the same prob with my pug power`d bay ,,, this is what i did ,, found a length of blue alkerthean , water pipe cut a peice about 24" at a guess ( was long time ago ) and cut down the length not a strait cut , as when you slide it in from front it will hold together in the right place ,, its a realy good fit ,, and makes the linkage feal like new
as well as making it quiet _________________ Auto Union Munga Jeep ,T4 2.4td , T4 2.5tdi ,Mercedes S Class on LPG , 66 splity deluxe , GP mk1, 3 type 25s 1 with 1.9dt pug engine + 1 with N/A pug engine ,,there are 6 t25s with pug power in Darlington |
