Vehicle: VW T2B twin slidder bay window camper
Year: 1979
Engine fitted: AHU 1.9 tdi 1998 (90 BHP)
Gearbox: 2.0 litre lawn mower 091 6 rib (CP code)

the van has been fitted with a 1.9 tdi engine from a late mk3 vw golf estate complete with all flyby wire electronics and cruise control, the engine has been fitted at 50 degree's using all standard vw parts without a adaptor plate by fitting a type 25 diesel bellhousing on to the 091 lawn mower gearbox which is a straight forward bolt on swap, all engine mountings are type25 with a custom engine support bar, a type 25 turbo diesel sump & oil pump has been used due to engine mounting angle.

Cooling has been taken care of with a set of standard type25 turbo diesel engine bay coolant hoses these are connected to mdpe plastic plumbing pipe (32mm od) for the pipe runs from the rear to the front of the vehicle the coolant is then directed through 2x 90 degree hoses to the radiator a landrover discovery 300tdi unit these are 4 core and more than take care of the cooling needs (the electric fan has never switched on yet!!!) the fan is a 15" from a diesel ford mondeo controlled thermostatically by a adjustable kenlowe fan switch and has a manual overide and fan status led on the dash.i have 2 heaters fitted the rear is a complete mk3 polo heater box under the rear seat aka type25 caravelle and the front is a golf mk2 heater matrix in a custom sealed box in the original dash board heat riser tube with a mk1 citreon saxo blower mounted under the van providing the air presure, the heaters are both very good and 1 alone will keep the van at a comfortable temp even in the coolest winter night but both on together are brilliant!

The van is very torquey and can be driven happly fron 30mph up in 4th and does 70mph at around 3600rpm with the 205/40/17 tyres fitted, care has to be taken in the wet as it is very easy to smoke the tyres coming out of bends in 2nd and 3rd!!! the engine standard is 155 ft/lbs a third more than a 2.0 petrol bay or a 2.1 wasserboxer
